Cookie asked, "Why do people walk their dogs and not their cats??"
Instead of answering her questions with a quick answer.
I asked her if she'd like to come up with the answer through a scientific method.
So we tried an experiment to come up with a reasonable conclusion.
Our cat, Mr. Moxie, will be the test subject.
We gathered the dog's harness and leash.
Cookie came up with a few predictions and hypothesis about why people don't walk cats.
Hypotheses #1--Humans like dogs more than cats
Hypotheses #2--Dogs don't like to share their humans
Hypotheses #3--Humans don't care to walk the cat because humans are too tired after walking the dog
Hypotheses #4--There is not enough city money to make cat walking parks
"I expect I will be compensated for being your test subject." |
This is Mr. Moxie, our test subject, getting his harness adjusted.
"Watch the fur, please, I just had it cleaned" |
Cookie has Mr. Moxie harnessed and leashed and ready to find an answer.
Cookie attempts to take Mr. Moxie on a walk.
She begins to walk and Mr. Moxie doesn't move.
She tries again with no response.
Then she tries to coax him with flattery and sweet words.
She then tries pleading with him with no success.
zzzzzzz.... |
Bam understandably offers Cookie his assistant.
But Mr. Moxie decided he was far overdue a nap.
All the excitement and bribery has proven too much for Mr. Moxie.
Mr. Moxie is catching his z's while being towed across the porch like a wet limp noodle..... |
By now we have tears in our eyes from all the laughter.
Cookie, Sweetheart, Princess Fifi and Bam have come up with the following final conclusions about why humans don't walk cats:
Conclusion #1-Humans own dogs. Cats own humans. That's why dogs call humans 'Master' while cats want humans to call them 'Master'.
Conclusion #2-Cats have dignity and refuse to be treated like a dog.
Conclusion #3-Cats make the rules and no amount of bribery or sweet talk will make them change the rules.
Conclusion #4- Cats have loads of pride in themselves; that's why cats travel in prides and not packs.
Conclusion #5-Cats think they might miss dinner.
Conclusion #6-Cats wear boots at night while dancing and their feet hurt too much to attempt anything else.
Conclusion #7-Cats are extremely stubborn like unicorns. Even Noah couldn't get unicorns on the Arc because they were so stubborn like cats.
Cookie's final thought, "Cats like privacy. Dogs are very public and showy about going potty. Dogs like to be told "good dog" when they poop. Cats would be embarrassed if you said that to them."
UNDERSTANDABLY SO.......
All I know about cats is that I wouldn't own one, unless it was a kitten. But once it grew up I would give it away. They're lazy and always want to sleep and brush up against you. Dogs on the other hand like to play, run and give companionship. They also serve to protect their owners. I've owned several dogs in my lifetime and prefer dogs over cats.
