homeward bound on Route 66

As we're driving, this song plays on the radio.  We find it quite enjoyable and easy to listen to. It suits the view-.....WESTWARD with the GREATS PLAINS in our view.

Oklahoma City brings back memories

Oklahoma City is the capital and the largest city in the state of Oklahoma.
Right now about now the children and I are getting homesick.
We're close to home..... but not there yet.

This is the view from the backseat of the van (taken by Princess FiFi). That's our angel on the rear view mirror: Her wings have an inscriptional quote which reads:
You must do the things you think you cannot do.
I like that quote..... its a good reminder to never give up.........EVER.

The U-Drop Inn in Shamrock aka "Ramone's body shop in Radiator Springs" is an awesome example of art deco architecture. This was featured in the animated Disney/Pixar movie Cars (http://worldofcars.go.com/) (www.shamrocktexas.net)

Its time to make a stop...... we're in Amarillo, Texas and the Don Harrington Discovery Center is a perfect place to get out.
We love the Discovery center!!

Afterward we worked up quite an appetite so we lunched at the
 Big Texan.

We rode the free limo to and from the restaurant.
The kids loved IT.......especially since the limo had bull horns on the hood!!!

We were thrilled and amused by the driver, he told us some great stories about the town......he gave us a real insight about the area.

I remember earlier........I saw a roadrunner in our backyard on the swing set as we were packing up the van.

I thought I'd snapping a few shots of that silly guy.
It was funny at the time----
