spray me down....

When you live in New Mexico you must wear sunblock year around.
If you have children.....they must wear sunblock
It's not a matter of not wearing it....... it's a must!
So when I heard,"Mommy, the sunblock is empty", this morning.
.....I knew we had to make a trip to the store after school.

So many to choose from....our fave is the spray on, no rub variety.

Fifi gets distracted by the glittery, sparkly advertisement
as she shops for lip balm

Sweetheart, your hair is so super long and pretty....

We've found our water proof, sweat proof, 'no rub' Neutrogena helioplex spray sunblock,
Paraban free EOS lip balm with SPF 30,
Goody no snag hair ties,
Burt's Bee's tea tree oil,
and
 Beyond Carrots facial cream.
The weather is getting warmer and the temperature is slowly rising.
Hurray for healthy skin and tangle free hair.....  and coupons! *whew*

channeling our Hollywood glam....

We like to think of ourselves as movie buffs, cinema aficionado, fellow actors, film critics and future recipients of Oscar.

We've decided to have our very own Oscars party tonight
--by invitation only--
exclusively for us....

We are wearing our very best Hollywood glamour
We have on our "Who are you wearing? " Pj's
Princess Fifi, Sweetheart, Cookie and I have completed our glam with feather boas
(from our dress up box)

 sparkly necklaces and bracelets

 glitter couture
(from our arts and craft box)

fabulous tiaras
(from our birthday box)

red soled Christian Louboutin
(okay not really but we can pretend.....we actually have on slippers)

Bam is dapper in his top hat and tuxedo jacket
(Top hat is from the Halloween box and tuxedo jacket is code for house robe)

On the menu tonight:
Midnight in Paris fromage plate (macaroni and cheese)
The Iron Lady lemonade (freckled lemonade: organic fresh strawberries blended with lemonade)
Moneyball bagette (olive oil, cheese, honey and tyme atop a sliced bagette)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo toast (Nutella and cinnamon toast tartlets)
Hugo grey (earl grey tea with a spot of lemon and honey)
The Artist (assorted veggies on a skewer)
Rango sammich (mini turkey, cranberry and walnut sandwich on marble rye)

We're looking forward to watching the thrill of the awards and the acceptance speeches tonight.
Keeping in mind....
Someday we'll be hearing our name being called
Someday we'll be up there clutching that Oscar
Someday we'll be giving that acceptance speech

look what I found....

Howdy y'all........

Its cowboy Maximilian!
It's been forever since I've seen him around.
At one time he was around daily for almost 8 years straight.
Now we've gone months without seeing him.

Yes, that is a bovine steer on the roof......... who says he can't be there???
In Lincoln Log land ANYTHING is possible....…

Today Cookie and I have decided to clean out the play room cubbies.
That's when we found the endless cubby full of Lincoln Logs.
Cookie decided to make this fort for ol' time sake.
This was a popular toy that was enjoyed by all my children.
Passed down from one to the other.......

Cookie enjoyed making this log cabin mansion for cowboy Maximilian.
....…But not long after we started; Bam, Fifi and Sweetheart, in passing, decide to join in Cookie's nostalgia.
Before we knew it, we were all on the floor, making the Lincoln Log resort de Persingerfive.
Its great to set down the electronics (every now and than) to enjoy the simple things like....
....building a village
....building a bond
....building a memory

♥I love my children♥
*sigh*

are you telling me you built a time machine???

What......
Nothing in the refrigerator looked appeasing enough for dinner tonight.
Although it is a terrible time to consider grocery shopping.
We headed out to the grocery store anyways.
As we exited the store with our arms full of bags, we saw this......

It reminded me of the Back to the Future car.......
except it is not a DeLorean.
.....but rather a chopped top Ford.
 Silly
I'm sure it's a dream car........to someone.
Zoom zoom
I wonder if it requires a plutonium nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to power up........

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz (now try that again, this time without singing it.....)

Books books and more books.......
Today we decided to stop by a library on our way home.
But not to our usual library........but that didn't stop us from taking it over.

Bam attempting to scale the alphabet sculpture outside the library

No, Bam!!
Cookie and Sweetheart are very concerned for their brother.

Then Princess Fifi decides to distract Bam by claiming the letter "R" for herself.

"No, my letter "R"", reclaims Bam.

Sweetheart strikes a fashionable pose on the sculpture.

Who knew the alphabet could be so fun.......

driving on a donut sized tire.....

Why do we have a tiny tire on our van??
This morning while I was taking Bam and Fifi to school, our tire got flat.
Luckily we were close to the repair shop and they said they could replace our tire...........but not until noon.
In the mean time they swapped out the flat tire for the spare.
My whole day is flopped around now........

School is back in session.
Good news.......
Bam made the junior-varsity tennis team at his school.
I'm so proud of my son's accomplishments.

Practice and condition daily, son.
 Keep up the great work....

sparkly smiles

HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY
Founding Father George Washington's birthday
Schools are out today for President's day.
But Sweetheart and Cookie have a pending dental appointment before they can officially call it a day off.

(click here for blog about Fifi and Bam's dental visit)
Nom Nom Nom......
As we wait for the dentist, a Giant set of teeth and a super sized toothbrush sit atop the countertop, looking rather CREEPY.......…

Sweetheart captured this image from the dentists' chair

PERFECT dental check up for both Sweetheart and Cookie.

This is the goody bag the dentist gave to the girls....

Cookie took a picture of the contents of her goody bag
Green toothbrush, mini toothpaste, mini floss, toy surprise, stickers
and TOKENS for the bouncy ball machine.
Hurray for BEAUTIFUL teeth.........and HEALTHY smiles

Cheii's childhood stories (listening, learning and appreciating)

It's a beautiful, chilly overcast day at the ranch.

melting snow equals muddy grounds

We're with Nana and Cheii relaxing at the ranch.

Today we're going to celebrate Cheii's birthday.
(his actual birthday is on leap day--so he's actually a lot younger than we think.....)

Birthday greetings and decorations
are lovingly placed about the house to honor
Cheii's special day.
Bam, Fifi, Sweetheart and Cookie got an early start on decorating for his celebration with signs, streamers, and balloons.
Then Nana and the girls picked up some scrumptious cupcakes for his birthday sweet, earlier, when they went grocery shopping.
Cheii and Bam spent time together too, as they went to feed to the cattle earlier in the a.m.

--------------
Nana made a delicious home cooked meal.
We sang happy birthday to Cheii.
Had cupcakes while Cheii recalled stories of his childhood and growing up......
Cheii was very happy and thrilled to be spending his special day with us. (early)
We were hoping to spend another day at the ranch with Cheii and Nana but we had to leave today.

A huge snow storm was also headed for the area.

muddy van look like she had a great adventure......

The storm was a mix of hard freezing rain, blizzard snow and fierce winds.

waiting in Arizona.......

NM West i-forty
Yes, we're traveling to see Nana and Cheii at the ranch.
But before we go there, we must make a detour to Arizona to take care of some B.I.A. business.
(B.I.A. is the Native American government)
The office hours state they're opened until 12p today.
Yet when we arrived at 10:48a, they were already CLOSED!!
Ohhhh........geez!

We waited around until noon but they must've CLOSED early without notice.
(perhaps another day B.I.A....)

In Arizona, among the sacred and healing rock formations

Waiting worked up our hunger, so we decided to have lunch in Window Rock.

 lunch at Pinky's......
Afterward we left Arizona, back to New Mexico, to the ranch, where our Cheii and Nana awaited our arrival.

el rancho bound mañana........

We're very excited this Friday......
Cookie and Sweetheart are in the van ready to pick up Bam and Fifi from school.
Our plans are to see Cheii and Nana tomorrow at the Ranch.

Everyone is looking forward to getting out of town and heading West.
"Hurray, mummy, hurry, so we may get home so we can pack our bags." squeals Cookie from the backseat.
Sweetheart took this self portrait of her excitement to see her grandparents.

Think Sweetheart loves animal print or what....

So much to do, so little time........ I love our life.

Drafty Duke City

It's a bright, sunny, lovely, cloudless....COLD and CHILLY day in the Duke city.
I'm certain the chill in the air is coming off the Sandia Mountains.
As I make my way through the city; enroute to meet up with Bam.
Where do you think we lunched?
hint: $5......$5 footlong........

short sleeves yesterday..........winter parka today

Brrrr.......it is still WINTER after all
Chilly winds blowing all over ABQ today.
Just when we almost got used to the warmer weather.....
Old man winter must be saying: put away those spring clothes-I'm not finished yet!

Cookie jokes, "Mummy, do you think if you milked a cow today, she'd give ice cream?"

I love my Mumma......

Tonight Bam, Fifi, Sweetheart, Cookie and I have planned a FANCY Valentine candle light dinner (oh la la)
......the table is covered in a beautiful red tablecloth,
fun heart fabric napkins, with a beautiful string of red beads artfully arranged as the center piece.
For dinner I've prepared a rosemary roast lamb, buttery croissants, fresh green beans and
a wonderful spinach-beet-strawberry salad.
Fifi made her amazing red velvet cupcakes
(to die for...)
Bam will play a mini concerto he recently learned
(so sweet)
Sweetheart is formally setting the table
(salad fork--dinner fork..........hmmm??)
and Cookie just presented me with a little secret hand made gift and a letter that reads:
NO BLOGGING

(That means I must get off..........Valentine's Day is not a time to be on the computer)
I must be with my lil' lovies

Have a Happy Valentine's Day...........

it's a glitter, stickers and lolli kind of day.....

Cookie and Sweetheart are finishing with last minute touches to their valentine cards for delivery tomorrow to their friends, teachers and classmates.

Vintage cards are sooo sweet.
Except these aren't the cards the girls gave out.....

They've also decorated their valentine "mail" boxes with red and pink paper and have layered upon layers of stickers and glitter to add that final POW........

Vintage 1950's

My girls are so sweet and so generous--
They've made sure everyone in their class will get a valentine card and a lollipop from them.
They even have extras for just in case......such big hearts **sigh**
I'm so in love with my little ones.

TGIF

My how times flies........

Is it already the end of the week?
This week (unlike many weeks) flew by so quickly!!!
All four of my children have jammed packed schedules; could that be the reason why?
Are we actually getting into the swing of things??

Now hopefully our weekend will not fly by so quickly........

yummy jelly bean nails

My girls and I have decided to make tonight a mani and pedi night........
It's been a very busy week with plenty of after school activities to keep us busy and very tired.

Look at all the pretty spring colors OPI has to offer.
If only our private nail polish kit had those yummy colors.
Tonight we're trying to decide between
crackle, magnet, neon, matte, or super shiny polish.
Hmmmm...........
It's great to have to make these types of decisions.

theatre and culture makes our day....

Double field trip for me, with my Sweetheart and Cookie, to Popejoy Hall.
Today we enjoyed Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters--An African Tale.
This theatre presentation is based on a Reading Rainbow book by John Steptoe and was presented by the Dallas Children's Theater.
Let me tell you......they did a great job!
the performance was......... (Cookie says: ENERGETIC)
the music and dance was......... (Sweetheart says: POWERFUL)
the set was.........(Cookie says: AMAZING)

We stayed for the Q & A session after the performance.
The performers answered as many of the children's questions as they could.
--They stayed even longer to answer more questions..........(Sweetheart and Cookie say: THANK YOU)
The children were intrigued by the colorful costumes
--One of the performers is also the costumer for the group.........(Cookie says: SUPER talented)
The audience was impressive with the beautiful set
--The performers showed us how easily the set is unpacked and repacked very quickly......(Sweetheart says: MASTERFUL)

Cookie and Sweetheart were astonished at the lamps that looked like real torches.
They think you're BRILLIANT!
***Thank you Dallas Children's Theater performers for making our day!!***

amity and harmony

I'm reflecting on early yesterday mornings' social justice assembly we attended.
Bam and his Confirmation team each presented their social justice projects they've been working on for well over a year.

What is social justice?
From a simple point of view, social justice is equivalent to social fairness.
It's a phrase that refers to giving what is rightly due to an individual or group, team or community.
Social justice is about equality and fairness between human beings.
It works on the universal principles that guide people in knowing what is right and what is wrong.
This is also about keeping a balance between groups of people in a society or a community.
A fair perception about race, age, gender, culture, laws, traditions, beliefs is considered a good balance.
Social justice happens when a person or group of persons do not harbor prejudices that are detrimental to peaceful and productive relationships among individuals or groups.

For over a year, the Confirmation candidates each committed time, effort, understanding and awareness towards a social justice group, individual or organization.
They separately created an understanding for social equality and humanity through hands on assistance and learning.
Princess Fifi, Sweetheart, Cookie and I peeked at the room full of displays and science boards. We were astonished at many of the remarkable accomplishments they've achieved in a year.
Most importantly, Bam and many of the Confirmation candidates want to willingly continue working on their social justice projects indefinitely.
They've become aware of a global solution towards peace and humanity
That it takes compassion, science, and society to become a role model and a good citizen.
It also requires benevolence, kindness, empathy and sympathy for a community.

They're making our world a better place to live in.......
Have you done your part to balance society within your community???

Super family fun.........

New York Giants vs. New England Patriots

It's Super Bowl Sunday.........
Bam, Princess Fifi, Sweetheart, Cookie and I absolutely enjoy watching the big game together.
Whether we're watching as a family live, in person or on t.v.
We enjoy a good game.......

There are pom-poms, NY Giant mylar balloons by the t.v., and mini footballs......

The girls have painted their tiny nails with tiny helmets, glitter, and gems.
OOhhh........ what a grand affair.

We're ready to attend an exclusive, private Super Bowl party.
So exclusive and private that there wasn't any invitations sent out.
Hint: We're NOT in Indianapolis
We're in our own home........... this party is meant for us.
(we don't know any one else as big a fan of "The Big Game" like us anyhow)

This is our very own, personal Super Bowl party.
Ultra exclusive, we had......
fresh berries and melons (yummy antioxidants)
7 layer organic dip (mmmm)
home made pumpkin tofu cookies (soft, healthy, and yum)
hoagie sandwich (subs are a requirement of any Super Bowl party)
angel eggs (not deviled)
Root beer soda (dessert??)
Super Bowl cupcakes (with mini super bowl rings atop)
Baked lays (crispy)
orange smiles   :-)
mozzarella sticks (cheezy)
macaroni salad (Fifi's secret recipe)
Green chile, sour cream dip (hahahaha.......soo delish)
Home made tamales (not shown because they went super fast)

We had a great time!!!

Princess Fifi and I mingled about the snack table......
While Bam and Sweetheart were in their team jerseys getting in on the best seats in the house.....
(in front of the tv)

But who knew Cookie would be the BIGGEST "fan"atic in the house........
(wearing her "lucky" Giants t-shirt and the gloomy bears beanie she wears to every winning Super Bowl)
