Billy does it too....

"Mommy, I have to collect material for the family blog."
I've heard this before.
We came across a similar situation from a Family Circus comic strip.
Guess we're all blogging lately!
Thanks for coming around and reading our blog.
We enjoy sharing.
Our little blog has generated many new and returning visitors daily.
Kindly consider leaving a comment or rate our blog below.
We'd loved to hear from you!!

I'm dreaming of a PINK Christmas....

--While visions of a pink tree danced in her head--

Guess who decided today would be a perfect day to set up the pink table top tree?
Yes, that would be Princess Fifi and Sir Kyle.
Christmas Carols gently echoed from the room and filled the house.
Princess Fifi knows what she's doing......
She got us all thinking of the upcoming holiday, decorating the house and the tree.
Oh joy!

"what did you do?"

Our fall holiday break has come to an end.
It's Monday and its back to our regular school schedules.
Bam and Princess Fifi had five days off from school.
Sweetheart and Cookie had nine days off.
I'm afraid that break didn't last long enough.
We'll miss our uninterrupted family time but I suppose we'll have the upcoming December winter break to look forward to.
After school, we decided to get out and enjoy the mild weather that today offered.
Later in the week the forecast calls for snow and icy conditions.
We caught up with Miss Katia at the grassy field.

The girls had a chance to catch up and chat with her a bit before we had to go home.
--Happy days with family--

fun in footed jammies

We're staying home today.
Staying home
Staying warm
Staying close
The weather is getting so much more colder now.
Time to break out the footed pjs, bake some cookies and catch a Christmas show on tv!

rudolph or clarice???

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......

While running errands we saw this car at the stop light.
Yes, it is a rudolph the red nosed reindeer car.
Isn't it just the funniest thing you've seen!!
We laughed all the way home.
The eye lashed headlights are so "silly-cute".

gusty winds with an increased chance of blowing away......

High speed winds are blowing today.
It one of those days where HOME is the best place to be.
But who would want to be anywhere else?
There are leftovers and Christmas movies to enjoy at home!!

This is what the front yard looked like yesterday

This is the same place in the front yard today

LOVE one another

Today we are taking the DAY to honor our Creator.
We're remembering those who matter most to us with a blessing and the sharing of a meal.
We are acknowledging the true origin and remember the pain, loss and agony of our ancestors.
Those who suffered at the hands of others and those afflicted with unknown foreign diseases.
We're not celebrating the Thanksgiving of pilgrims and "indians".
We are simply remembering and NOT forgetting.
We are acknowledging the love for rich human diversity and humanity.
LIVE LOVE and LEARN
We have concern for those without love, family, homes and food.
Our hearts are with children who are alone or scared.
We pray for those in difficult situations to have the courage and strength to escape domestic violence.
We are thinking of those with little to none...........worldwide.
We prepare this meal for you.
We are thinking of you.
Sweetheart hand washing dishes / Fifi is cleaning and cutting the veggies

melody of veggies for our stuffing

Bam's award winning salad ready for tossing

Cookie mixing the dough for the rolls while Sweetheart supervises

fresh apples for the scrumptious apple pie

The house smells AMAZING.
If only there was scratch and sniff blogs.

HAPPY DAY OF HONOR AND REMEMBRANCE

flower power

Looking lovely and smelling wonderful

The flowers Sweetheart and Cookie received from us last week during their graduation ceremony, are still looking beautiful and as fragrant as ever. (visit that blog here)
Cookie and Sweetheart decided that they would like to combine their bouquets to make a center piece for our dinner tomorrow.
What a sweet idea.
We're all looking forward to tomorrow.
Hopefully we'll get a visit from Nana and Cheii.
We haven't seen them in a very (very) long time......

peeling pepperoni off the pizza

While Bam and Fifi are at school today, the babies will come out to play.
My baby girls; Sweetheart, Cookie and I are having our mother-daughter day.
Just as Bam and Fifi did when they too were out of school for parent teacher conference days.
We set out to use those gold coins that Cousin Map gave us.
(click here for gold coins blog)

Usually Chuck E. Cheese is overly crowded with many families, birthday parties and tiny tikes.
Today Sweetheart, Cookie and I enjoyed a very quiet, very empty, Chuck E. Cheese.
It was as if they were only OPEN for us and us ALONE.

Cookie mastering an equestrian video game

The girls played a few games with those token they had.
Their favorites games were those that rewarded them with tickets in which they could redeem for small trinket prizes. But we didn't have time to redeem the tickets today.

Sweetheart has perfect aim at the ball toss game

The girls and I had fun at Chuck E. Cheese complete with a pizza lunch.
--Green chile was not an option today--
We ordered a cheese pizza but we were given a pepperoni pizza instead.
We didn't have time for another pizza to be prepared.
So we compromised.......

Uh oh.............

Before we knew it, it was time to pick up Bam and Fifi from school.
Fun day full of good times with tons of smiles, laughter and a
fistful of Chuck E. Cheese prize tickets.........

parent teacher conference........"mahna mahna"

Today and tomorrow are parent teacher conference days at Sweetheart and Cookie's school.
I got a chance today to meet with their teachers to discuss their academics.
I'm proud to report they are doing very well in school.

Great job girls!!

Tonight we plan to attend a screening of Disney's The Muppets.
It actually gets release on Friday but we were able to get sneak peek passes.

(Muppet fans please press here)

We decided to extend our good fortune and invite a few friends since each ticket admits two; although our van seats only seven.
On last minute invites, we were able to take Cookie's friend, Miss Amara; plus Sweethearts "BFF", Miss Katia with us tonight.

vintage characters plus nostalgia equals fond memories
What a treat to be able to get out to the cinema tonight.

bee eye n gee oh

We love a good board game or two when we have family game night at home.
But tonight we thought we'd try something different, something called Turkey Bingo being held at our church.
The game of bingo is played to win prizes or even a frozen turkey.
Sounds interesting and different for us--

It's all for a good cause. It benefits handicap citizens through the Knights of Columbus.

These gentlemen where very hospitable towards us

Happy, joking, number announcers found humor in everything

Inquizative
We are newbies to playing bingo outside our home.
We felt a little overwhelm with the rules and options they offered.
Paper cards, board cards, bingo layouts
We never played like that.......
Wow!

Fancy cards vs. paper cards

These are the different configuration you can win at BINGO
We sat there with one bingo card under each of us.
While many of the expert players had a dozen or so under them.
They had big puffy markers while we only had crayons that I had fished out from my purse.
They had little trinkets for luck around them.
We had to make our own luck.
Although we did not win any BINGO games; what matters most is that the handicap citizens came out as the real deserving winners.
BINGO!!

in the pool with shoes on......

Sweetheart's best friend, Miss Katia, invited us to her birthday party at the Hilton Garden Inn.
The Hilton has an indoor heated pool with a two story water slide!

Yaaaah!
A heated pool and fun water time couldn't have come sooner.

The children haven't been in a pool since summer hotels, Eleannan's, and Greenburgh!!

Under water portrait

Everyone had a great time at Miss Katia's birthday party.

There was plenty of delicious pizza, fruit, gold fish crackers and punch to please everyones appetite.
Miss Katia, Katia's mom, and my girls relaxed with a Christmas movie upstairs in their room.
Bam and I decided to go home and let the girls continue with their slumber party.
Happy Birthday Miss Katia!!

jumping and kicking throughout the day

We had an eventful start to the day.
First, Cookie and the jump rope team, went on a field trip to Hodgin elementary school today for a jump rope exhibition show.
This is a duo jump rope trick called "the sneak and peek"

Orange sneakers.....

YES!! They are on pogo balls and jump roping simultaneously

The jump rope team!!
Don't you feel inspired to take up jump rope?
Great job team!!

Later, in the evening, we attended Sweetheart and Cookie's karate ceremony.
Tonight they're showcasing their newly formed talents for families and friends.

Sweetheart does everything with a SMILE

--model student--

Congratulations and job well done girls!
Thank you Renshi Mark and Sensei Anna for enforcing self discipline, manners, honesty, loyalty as well as strength, coordination and flexibility through the art of Shuri-Ryu karate.
Cookie and Sweetheart love Mountain Eagle Karate Academy!

gobble gobble

--Special Thanksgiving luncheon--

I had a very special lunch date today with Sweetheart and Cookie.
The school hosted a Thanksgiving luncheon for the students and parents.
We had roast turkey and gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, cranberry sauce, 1/2 pint of milk, and pumpkin cake with whipped topping.

happy parents and hungry kids
There was a long line of parents joining their kid for lunch today.

The tables were festively decorated for the occasion

I asked my girls what they were thankful for this year.
"We're THANKFUL for YOU, MOMMY"
Sweetheart told me,"You make my heart feel as full as my tummy,"
Cookie complimented me with, "You're sweeter than the whip cream on my pie."
I love you.......

I feel like a leprechaun or a cheese pizza.....

Look what I found while cleaning up the house today.
Gold Coins
Not real gold coins but gold token coins from Chuck E. Cheese.
These were coins that Cousin Map gave my girls when we attended his daughter, Isabella, birthday party.
I remember the girls were unable to use them because we were in a rush to attend a jump rope show.
Click here to visit that blog post.

Looks like we might be visiting Chuck E. Cheese in the near future.......

leaf only your footprint.....

The temperature has been getting colder.
The wind has been a little harsher.
So the leaves are finally falling off the trees!

We've been looking forward to these days all month long.
We love taking walks with the leaves crunching beneath our feet.
The leaves are littering the streets, the cars and every yard around.
It's a beautiful new sight........

空手道

Week 2 of Sweetheart and Cookie's after school karate lessons.
They are learning the basic karate introduction moves very quickly
They seem to have the determination and drive to learn.
Renshi Mark (their instructor) and Sensei Anna knows exactly how to teach children so they understand and want to learn more.
--RESPECT for the MIND, BODY and SPIRIT--

"kiai--気合!"

Sweetheart learning her blocking stance
So far I am very pleased with the their lessons.
Sweetheart and Cookie look forward to attending after school.
They are always excited to learn something new in karate.
Plus they're keeping up well with both their school work and their karate lessons.
Smiling :-)

dish soap art

Creating inspirational whimsical art on a whim
I love this image with the change of resolution color
Give my children a box of dry erase markers and they can create a masterpiece.

They made some real eye catching art on the dry erase board this evening.

I like the scales and tie dye effect

I had to be certain to capture these images on my camera before it was brushed away.

uniform bobbles through a child's eye

Can you guess what sparked their imagination for these creations?
Was it the salmon we ate tonight?
Was it the oranges they snacked on afterward?
Was it the gold fish swimming in his aquarium?
No.....
In fact, it was the bubbles upon the dishes in the sink.

"What a funny place to find inspiration" I said.
"Oh silly, art is all around us." says Sweetheart.

What a great thing for a child to say!
Art is all around us.
Beauty is everywhere.
It's all how you look at the world.
I like that thought..........
As I wash the dishes I am but a renown artist arranging and sculpting the bubbles upon my ceramic bases and vessels.
Suddenly I feel so privileged to tend my nightly tasks tonight.
