you gotta have FAITH

Our busy schedule doesn't end just because school ended.
This summer, Sweetheart and Cookie will attend faith formation religious educational studies.
Sweetheart and Cookie have attended this in summers past.
They are excited to meeting up with old friends and excited to make new ones.
The classes meet 5x a week throughout the month of June.
So that means the routine of drop off / pick up won't end for us anytime soon.

Gotta have Faith.....

My lab tech had vampire teeth....... (REALLY)

After a few days of trying to kick this fever......I decided to head to the doctor's office.
He sent me off with antibiotics and an appointment for lab works.
The lab drew lots and lots of blood.
Ewww......
So an achy arm and a band-aid later, I was off to the pharmacy---kids in tow.
I worry about taking my children to the hospital with me.......so many SICK GERMS.
One ill person in the family is more than enough at any time!!!

Life doesn't stop when I'm under the weather....... I admit, it does make thing more difficult
But I'm up for the CHALLENGE........

Uncle and pizza makes everything better.....

I'm still feeling under the weather....

One banana pepper, spinach, olive pizza
and
One olive and mushroom pizza

Lucky for us.....Bam, Sweetheart, Fifi and Cookie have the best Uncle (and I the best brother)
in the WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!
Uncle Ahsker came over to check on us......He knew I was still feeling ill with fever.
He took time away from his day to play, entertain and listen to my little ones and then watched movies on tv with them.
(I never asked him to..... he did it out of the kindness of his heart )
He knew I needed some rest to recover.
It was mind assuring that my little ones had him if they were to need anything.
Uncle Ahsker even took care of lunch by ordered the most delicious pizza.
(so I heard..... my appetite was zilch)
Thank you Uncle Ahsker, you're the BEST

MIB3

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY
Today Uncle Ahsker (my brother) took Bam, Cookie and Fifi out to a movie.
They decided to see Men in Black 3 for a wonderful Memorial Day treat.
It couldn't have come at a better time because I'm feeling severely under the weather.....with a fever I haven't been able to kick. (no other symptoms......just fever)
I'm going to try to recover while they're out for their well deserved movie date with Uncle.

Sweetheart is still at little Miss Katia's house because they had a sleepover at her house last night.
Enjoy the video below of one of the songs from the movie.... and have a great Memorial Day!!

HOT sun and cool water fun

Sweetheart's very best friend, little Miss Katia, invited Sweetheart, Cookie and Princess Fifi over for swimming time.
Ohhhhh......... it was perfect timing....... especially with the HOT days we've been having lately.
The girls squealed with delight for the opportunity to have a girls day with little Miss Katia in her swimming pool.
Immediately the girls began trying on their swimming suits.
I suppose it's been a while since we've been swimming....the girls outgrew theirs....so it was time to purchase new swimming suits and coverups.

We had fun searching for the perfect color, the perfect cut and the perfect fit. We found it in the Harajuku collection at Target and the Selena Gomez collection at Kmart with super cute coverups from Costco.

Before I could get a picture of the girls in their swimsuits.........it was time to go to little Miss Katia's house. But believe me....they look so sweet, cute and summer ready in their new swim suits!

A+ and beyond

This week is final exam week
A week that is typically full of studying, studying and even more studying.

But Fifi brought home an unbelievable accolade.....she's been formally excused from taking her final exam!!
My first reaction......."What??!!"
Fifi is absolutely ecstatic over this honor......and I'm over the moon for my wonder child.

CONGRATULATION!
You have been excused from the final exam
You have worked hard all semester
and you deserve a break!

**cough cough**

This is the sun setting this evening....
The sun looks like a red fireball in the sky because of all the smoke in the air.
When there is a forest fire in the area our skies fill with smoke.
The smoke is irritating to the eyes and the throat especially.
There is nothing that can really be done...... even the indoors begin to smell through the air vents and air conditioning.
It seems as if the forest fire is just down the street......
NOPE
It's coming hundreds of miles from here from a forest fire in either Arizona or Colorado.
But it's only May......usually by late June or July we'll have forest fires all around our state.
With the lack of enough rain...... the forests are a virtual tinder box.
**Sigh**

the RING of FIRE is a jewel you CANNOT wear

Tonight is the annular solar eclipse where the moon blocks most of the Sun.
According to NASA, the eclipse will begin at sunrise local time in southern China, then pass over Hong Kong, Taipei and Tokyo. After entering California's view, the moon's shadow will block the sun's light along a course from Reno to the Grand Canyon in Arizona to Albuquerque to Lubbock, Texas. The full "ring of fire" effect is visible in ONLY eight states in the western United States this evening.
The RING OF FIRE is when all of the moon covers most of the Sun....leaving a ring of sunlight blazing around the moons circumference. The moon is near apogee--the farthest point from Earth in its orbit around our planet--so it's too small in the sky to cover the sun's face completely.

We set out to catch this AWESOME celestial event aka the annular solar eclipse.
We were fortunate to witness this AMAZING event at the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum.

The photo above is a view of the eclipse in the display of a video camera with a special eclipse viewing lens filter attachment on the front.
Can you see the beginning stages of the eclipse???
(I debated whether to include this photo in the blog....)

Can you see the moon is on the way to completing the RING OF FIRE....
(the reflection of the eclipse on a sheet of paper is cast from the binocular lens)
(BTW: you should NEVER fully view a solar eclipse with the naked eye....you must use proper viewing tools like a #14 welding shield or special eclipse viewing glasses)

Tah Dah......THE RING OF FIRE
We witnessed the RING OF FIRE
---via the reflection
---via #14 welding mask
---via the special eclipse viewing glasses
The RING OF FIRE lasted only 4 minutes...... and it was well worth every second!
But the rest of the eclipse lasted until sundown.

Inside the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum they had LIVE broadcasted coverage of the eclipse on various LCD screens inside and outside the museum.

I clicked this photo by accident on my little old camera with no filter........
Let hope I didn't ruin my camera.
(Although I might add.....it is a rather stunning photo)

This is the viewing balcony where we watched the eclipse.
After sunset we took in the museum and went out to the museum lawn where they had tons of activities like a rock climbing wall, jumpy house for the kids, crafting stations, face painting, food trucks and an outdoor SCI-FI movie.

auditions, arts and eats

LIGHTS, CAMERA.......ACTION

We're in Santa Fe auditioning for a feature film which is set to film here in New Mexico.

Acting is something very few people know we enjoy doing.
So before the lights, camera, actions begins we have to....

check-in and confirm our appointment with this guy....

Read, react, recite and memorize the sides....

Cookie fine-tunes Bam's hair for his audition
Then just before we're go in.... we grab the resume and head shots....

It's all in a day in the life of an actor......
Okay..... not really...... it's all done for FUN, for the experience and for expanding our artistic knowledge.
One can only learn to appreciate the arts, theatre and film when one knows all aspects of the line....
from pre-production...to acting....to crewing...to production....to presentation

After the audition we took a much needed break by taking in Santa Fe.......the arts, walking the plaza, artist row....and ending our day with dinner at our most favorite Santa Fe eatery---the Zia diner---they always treat us well......... ALWAYS!!

ROARING good time.....

Tonight we were invited to a private reception dinner.....at the ZOO.
We came prepared with our picnic blanket, sunblock........and appetite!
It was an evening of cool temperature -- no mosquitos--and on stage entertainment.
The reception was hosted by the Indian Education Department of APS (Albuquerque Public Schools) in honor of the Native American Scholars in the district.
That was us..... we were included along with other natives students in the area for ACADEMIC AND SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENTS during the 2011 / 2012 school year.

My children have been recognized yearly so we have always looked forward to this reception dinner.

-------------------
We enjoyed hearing the squeals of the chimpanzees and the roar of the lions from beyond the big wall near the amphitheater area.... where we enjoyed our dinner.
Besides the animals at the zoo..... there were face painters, painting the children's little faces....we had a great time!!
Grrrrr....

 Tigger or Sweetheart???

Cookie in Los Golondrinas

Cookie's final field trip with her class....
Last time we were in Los Golondrinas.... we were with Sweetheart's class. (Fall 2011)
This time around....Cookie and her class are enjoying the historic Los Golondrinas.

(click here for Fall 2011 Los Golondrinas blog)

Maybe you remember......Los Golondrinas is near Santa Fe......and is a historic living history museum.
Los Golondrinas represents the heritage and culture of the 18th and 19th century life in Spanish colonial and territorial New Mexico.

phenomenal Fifi

My middle school honor student--Princess Fifi-- had the prestige and honor of having Mr. Winston Brooks, the Superintendent of Albuquerque Public schools shadow her throughout the day. She was elected this position of student advisor by the principal of her school for her outstanding grades, model behavior, outstanding attitude towards school plus for having wonderful leadership skills.
She definitely had the teachers and students at full attention today.....that's for sure!!

Winston Brooks

Fifi was privileged when asked by Winston Brooks, to share her input of the advantages and disadvantages of her school and her opinion of the teachers, the teaching programs and the fairness and equality of student life.
Fifi has superior communication skills.....she says she answered her questions fair, honest and respectful to her school, her principal and her peers.
I'm beaming with pride.....my kid is the BEST!

Congraduations.....

GRADUATION DAY....
It's was an early release day today for Bam.
The graduation ceremony for the seniors attending his school is being held.
I can't believe that in three short years my little baby.... my son.... my Bammy will be graduating.
Amazing.....
It makes me smile....
There is so much to do until then.....there is so much we'll go through.
There is so much anticipation on my part just thinking about it...
Graduation is such a special and honorable time...... such a wonderful MILESTONE.
I look forward to it....... Bam looks forward to it too.
To him it seems so far away.....
To me it seems like next year.....

Congratulations Graduates..... or as we like to say
"Congraduations"

Happy Mum's Day

Good day....
 Doggie loves his mama

Today we've left town to see Nana (aka my mom)

Balloons, stuffy and sweet fruit....... Mmmmm

We wanted to surprise her (and Cheii)

Even cat's love their mom

Bam, Fifi, Sweetheart and Cookie made her cards and crafted little objects of love just for her....

Filling the room with the smell of fresh flowers.....just for Mom

We also brought her flowers and took her out to lunch.
(at our favorite super special super secret Mother's day location)
We were only able to stay for just a few hours.....
We love you Nana
(I love you Mom)
Happy Day

my love my life....

"But Mummy, every day is mother's day...."
That's why I feel so loved every single day....... I have these little smiling faces in my life.
I was chosen to be here for them.
It was destiny....
I ♥ being Mom
Tomorrow is "officially" mother's day..... I feel so fortunate for being a MOMMY.
I certainly don't have to wait a whole year...... to know I'm appreciated!
My heart skips a beat for these little faces of mine.....
I live and breath the essence of motherhood and loving every single minute.
Thank you--Bam, Fifi, Sweetheart, and Cookie for being my world.
Mommy loves you more than anything or anybody could possibly.

Cookie on the right with her HOT pink sneakers
Cookie performanced at the Health and Wellness Fair this evening with the jump rope team.
She's so talented.....
She has outstanding jump roping skills.
If I could bring you all here I would...... the show is so AWESOME.
Cookie....and the jump rope team are soooo....
SUPER TALENED!

The community health and wellness fair was held at Sweetheart and Cookie's school. There was a bike safety presentation by the Albuquerque Police Department. They even properly fitted and gave away free bicycle helmets. There was a rock climbing wall and a fruit smoothy booth with super smooth-smoothies....hahahaha. The local bowling alley brought over a portable bowling lane too and gave away free bowling passes. (I see a blog about bowling happening soon....) There were so many other events and sponsors....but by far the best was my little Cookie.... giving her very BEST performance.

whose afraid now???

We love a night time walk.....there's something about
the cool night time air on your skin
the beautiful songs the crickets sing
the refreshing smell of a New Mexico evening
the glimmer of the pale moon light shining down the path

It's all great....(until you download the pictures)
First off it looks way darker than it actually was.
The trees seems eerie and creepy.... not to mention the abundant of floating orbs
Then to make matters worst and far more creepy; New Mexican and Native American folklore tales come to mind....
Uhhhh....Sometimes it's best to stay home and turn on the air conditioner, turn up the t.v. and snuggle in front of a good movie...... with the curtains completely shut and the doors double double locked!!

Yikes and Zoinks .....having a Scooby-Doo moment right about now!

Final exams are closer to reality than summer right now....
But that didn't stop my Princess Fifi from bringing it one step closer.
This is how Fifi studies....
 coconut scented sunblock
fun floral sunnies
 summer fun spaghetti/ tank top
super cute shorts
painted toesies and flip-flops
her most favorite summer tunes playing
big colorful beach blanket
and in place of a wonderful summer novel she has her textbooks out for studying.
Wow!!
What a brilliant idea!
Awesome!
Leave it to Fifi to figured out a fabulous way to study!!
Shhhh Gotta study now....
My Fifi makes me smile all the time..... I admire her creativity, motivation and innovative thinking!!

a fishy field trip

Fun time for Fifi, as today her advanced studies science class headed to the Bosque School for a field trip.
They were working with the Bosque school, New Mexico wildlife and Rio Grande Open Spaces to finalize their wild fish monitoring program they began earlier this year.
During the school year, Fifi's advanced studies science class, recorded the daily fish activity and behavior of several different native Rio Grande species.
The BEMP (Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program) teachers at Bosque School toured the students along the bosque near the Rio Grande River, where they re-released the native fish back into their natural habitat.
Fifi was impressed with the Bosque school and enjoyed getting out of the classroom for the day too.
In fact, the advanced studies science class enjoyed more than a few hours away from school today....

Bart Simpson and Sweetheart
FYI
The Albuquerque Isotopes are a minor league baseball team based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The team, which plays in the Pacific Coast League, is the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Albuquerque was previously represented in the PCL as a Dodgers' affiliate by the Albuquerque Dukes, who won several PCL championships in the 1970s and 1980s before relocating to Portland, Oregon, as the Portland Beavers in 2001. The Isotopes began play in 2003 when the Calgary Cannons relocated to New Mexico.
The fictional Springfield Isotopes from the long running TV series The Simpsons was the influence for the new name of the team. In the episode "Hungry, Hungry Homer", main character Homer Simpson attempts to thwart the team's plan to move to Albuquerque by going on a hunger strike. Subsequently, when an Albuquerque Tribune online survey helped the team decide its new name, "Isotopes" received 67 percent of the 120,000 votes.[1]
Though team president Ken Young admitted that the name came from the series,[2] he said at the name's unveiling, "We picked it because over the past year it has become a popular name, and it does have something to do with Albuquerque."[3] The "Isotopes" name is appropriate, since New Mexico has a number of well-known scientific/military facilities dealing with nuclear technology, such as Los Alamos National LaboratorySandia National Laboratories, and the Waste Isolation Pilot Project (WIPP), as well as hosting the Trinity test.
